Day Care MISS Procedure
Day Care MISS Procedure
MISS- Minimally Invasive Spine Surgical procedures are the procedures that are done percutaneously i.e. directly through the skin without cut-opening the normal structures. This not only reduces the size of the skin cut but also reduces collateral damage to muscles and tissues, resulting in reduced pain and quick recovery.

Types of Day Care MISS Procedure:
Pain Block Management
Pain blocks include selective nerve root blocks, epidural/caudal blocks, S-I joint blocks & facet blocks. This technique involves direct placement of the needle under continuous Xray control (C-Arm) and delivery of anti-inflammatory lubricating & numbing injections to the site of pathology.
Vertebroplasty
It involves bone cement into a non-healing fracture vertebra this procedure is also done under local anaesthesia and continuous x-ray guidance. Setting time of the bone cement (hardening time) of the bone cement is 18-20 minutes. So the patient can be mobilized in an hour’s time post-surgery.
Vertebral Biopsy
It is done in patients who have vertebral compression fractures with a high suspicion of infection/malignancy the procedure involves removal of a small bone core using a needle under local anaesthesia and continuous x-ray control.
